Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What will I be doing doing?

We’ll provide additional training at onboarding, but it’s quite simple:

  1. Take a photos of your pad/tampon while you are changing it

  2. Roll the pads up and weigh them

  3. Submit photos of the pads through an anonymous web portal

Q: Do I need to provide my own materials?

No! We will provide you everything that you need, including pads, tampons, and a scale.

Q: What kind of data are you keeping on me?

Nothing, seriously!

Your data will never be sold, shared, or otherwise distributed outside of this research study. We do not store any personally-identifying information (PII) with the photos you upload. Your photos are automatically sanitized of all PII before we ever receive them.

The onboarding and follow-up information is safeguarded by a select few individuals, held accountable by the University of Southern California’s Institutional Review Board (IRB).

You can email our IRB at HRPP@usc.edu or call them at (323) 442-0114 for more information. Reference IRB #HS-25-00214 when contacting them. View our informed consent form here.

Q: What if my period is irregular?

Hold onto the materials we give you! Use them whenever— there is not specific timeframe we need.

Q: What if my flow is irregular?

No worries— use the pad as you normally would. It is still useful for our study.
